Skeletal Disease : Osteochondrodysplasia
Background:
Osteochondrodysplasia or skeletal dysplasia is the medical term for a bone development disorder. There are 7 different types of Osteochondrodysplasia, Achondroplasia, Cleidocranial dysostosis, Fibrous dysplasia, Langer-Giedion syndrome, Maffucci syndrome, Osteosclerosis, and Osteogenesis imperfecta. These disease are similar to one another as it causes dwarfism, thinning of bones, soft tissue damage, brittle bones, etc.
Treatment
Treatment for an adult with some type of Osteochondrodysplasia seems to not be effective. The only option doctors have is to provide surgical limb lengthening. With skeletal diseases, the body cannot rebuild or continue to grow that bone, therefore, the only possible option is have a prosthetic or artificial bone put in place.
Symptoms
The most common symptom of Osteochondrodysplasia is dwarfism, you can tell when an individual is suffering from Osteochondrodysplasia when their body composition is uneven or they physically waddle as they walk.
